This article presents the results of a comparative, structural-derivational and semantic-motivational description of the lexical units of the English, Russian, Kazakh and Karakalpak languages, which make up the group of names of exotic plants. This group of names is a special layer of vocabulary, formed at different stages of the development of botanical terminology, which manifests itself in different ways in the language pictures of the English, Russian, Kazakh and Karakalpak languages.
